Wargames Atlantic Foot Knights - Baron's War Miniatures [How I Paint Things]
Keeping it nice and simple today!
Apologies for having forgotten the size comparison a few folks asked for. I'll grab some photos later, but for now it's worth knowing they're 'true' 28mm miniatures, so to put it bluntly they don't really scale in as replacements for Bretonnians if that's what you're thinking... or you could play another game with them? 😅

I think I'll call him H.A.R.M.eR. Feels appropriate to that colour scheme. Die, Team Venture! ✌ After managing to do myself an injury (in Kiwi parlance!) to my wrist, I spent last week without a brush in my hand. Turns out that after a while, you get a little tetchy not being able to enjoy your hobbies! But it's just like riding a bike: you're a little wobbly and might collide with someone afte...

Being a Ranger was not for the faint of heart. It's worth reading up on the missions spearheaded by the Ranger battalions during Operations Husky and Overlord, but suffice to say here, Rangers paid a heavy toll for their victories. All carefully-vetted volunteers, being a Ranger meant being the tip of the spear during amphibious invasions. Perhaps made most famous by 'Saving Private Ryan,' the ...

"You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer as demented peasants kick each other to death in the mud." Turnip28 is... well, it's a lot. Like Napoleon stood for a portrait by Hieronymus Bosch. A post-apocalyptic world where instead of just stagnating, civilization slid backward into a deep, muddy hole. Where root-worshipping cults throw parades of hapless, mutated peasants at one another in the name...

One-Coat Paints: Speedpainting WWII French Infantry [How I Paint Things]
Переглядів 4,3 тис.Місяць тому
Early WWII French uniforms have a reputation for being a little tricky to paint. Not any more! With surprisingly few paints on the table you'll be able to knock out a French army fast; this took me about the third of the time it'd ordinarily take me to paint a French infantryman. Does it look like it? Well, get up close and squint... but paint an army like this and they'll look just fine on the...

Sometimes you need a chunk of bad guys in a hurry... Last week, while running the Fallout RPG, my players encountered a bunch of Raiders - no big surprise! But having something to show them and to place on a range marker so that the distances involved were more obvious would have been super helpful. I'm not going to get caught out like that again! Long-awaited in plastic, the recent release of the Solar Auxilia for The Horus Heresy sees some of the coolest infantry from Games Workshop hit stores in years. What can I say? I love the slightly old-school, submariner look to them. They're kitschy retro sci-fi in a way that seriously suits the 30/40k aesthetic really well. So if you're looking to put these guys on the table in support of your...

There have actually been two formations known as the British Army of the Rhine. Of course, these miniatures would work for just about any conflict or peacekeepi...

“Weg- tabuls”
These are great. And you are a treasure for the community. Thanks for this!
Im calling this episode "Sonic Sledgehammer Foes Hollywood!"
My question is how people get the fins to look so good, I find them such a pain to do with green stuff
Ironic that you did this, and I am waiting for my first group of Wars of the Roses Infantry to arrive. Great job!
Love your guides. Helps me with some great ideas
Question, I've been mixing marine juice for a while now following your recepie, and I keep running into a problem where the mixture pools weirdly in some areas, almost like it's gone hydrophobic. Do you think there's something I'm doing wrong with the mix, or could it be the paints I apply it over, I've tried it over both acrylics and contrast paints, and I'm getting a lil worried I might be ruining my paint works.
It’s good, to be at home.❤
Great technique! I usually apply the wash first and then dry brush with a mix of the same base color + ivory (1:1 mix). Is that ok as well, or do you recommend to dry brush before the wash?
Personally I like using the wash over a drybrush, since it'll tie the colours together and smooth out some of the chalkiness. It's not a necessity, but try it some time and see how you like the look.
Working on some isenkern stormtroopers from war games Atlantic struggling a bit instructions would have been helpful but they are cool.
The figures look great and they would look good in a diorama as well as stand alone miniatures. Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
How did you paint the boar head good sir, just free hand?
It's a transfer from the Cities of Sigmar infantry sheet.
They look great! More medieval/dark ages, please!
I come sometimes to this video when i need it, and it's always "oh yea, this guy also pronounce SET in such a weird way"
Great video! Still amazed by the power of marine juice! However, I prefer Army Painter as a company, so i keep to their products, which makes finding a replacement recipe tricky. I have considered the dark skin tone wash thinned with speedpaint medium, as it is sark but still has some red/purple tones. Have you found a useful alternative with the new AP fanstic line?
I think the coat bit you were asking about is literally just called a surcoat, like the two thin voats mascot. Also, i see a Dark Angel, howling gryphon and Novamarine, excellent choices :)
Still can’t believe how easy you make it look figures are great thank you, so glad you do these vids thank you 🙏
Try out some Victrix minis mate. A real treat. Maybe their Norman Cavalry or Saxon infantry.
Great video! I would love to see you do more Wargames Atlantic stuff like this.
I had this exact idea yesterday, you can even make heavy weapons teams and rough riders with some of Wargame’s Atlantic other kits
Just FYI, Brown Violet has been rebreanded as Olive Drab
Excellent video as always. And you said something in passing that was an “OMG” moment for me: “don’t move around wet paint as it will create texture!” That was pure gold! THANK YOU! 🙏 I have been doing that for years and thought I hadn’t thinned my paints enough. It’s been driving me crazy. Thank you. Just another reason to watch and support your videos! Thank you, Sir! Cheers 🍻
Another great vid to save to my "miniature painting" playlist for review and guidance!
I am really excited to get mine and I hope Wargames Atlantic does more knights
There's a whoooole range of knights, sergeants, and levies coming down the line! :D
Awesome!
i use your marine jiuce, its good stuff
Definitely going to try this when I start my Bretonians
Very cool looking figures great to see another ma manufacture bring them out gives a great variety to an arm excellent painting tutorial
Surcoat is the word you're looking for.
See, I *thought* surcoat and then figured, "Nah, I wouldn't have that right first time, it must be something else" and threw it out. Gotta trust myself! 😂
Great looking highlights on this one!
This will be a very useful series for my friends who want to play bolt action but are intimidated by painting!
finaly a medieval paintjob!!!! awesome as always
Ate those bases 25mm or 30mm diameter? Thanks
25mm.
Great video! Goldberg and friends go on a merry quest.
Superb knights, wonderful chain mails and colors/heraldy!👍👍
Another group of minis that looks fun to paint. And it appears your wrist is back in "fighting shape"!
What's your thoughts on using a texture palette instead of a paper towel for dry brushing? Have you tried it?
That's is nothing more than an internet fad. One person mentions it in their video once and then the gullible masses parrot it continuously.
Never seen the point of them. With a bit of practice you can drybrush without leaving chalky residue anyway, and between a wash and a varnish you'll almost never see what the texture palette is supposed to solve. It seems like someone started selling them and suddenly they were *everywhere* as the must-have, but... eh? Paper towel still works.
Hungry for BURGER! HERETIC BURGER!!! also i'm happy you're tackling cities... i really, REALLY want to make a cathay-themed one but i cannot find the bits!
Huzzar! Sonic hath returned. Glad to see you painting again chap.
the figures are very nice, but it's "small" 28mm. historically it is very very vague in terms of the period in view of the equipment of the models. superb painting as usual, always a pleasure to watch you paint.
5:00 "Go on Bors, chop it's head off" "Right, one rabbit stew comin right up!" Seeing him like that decided it for me. If I ever get my hands on a box of these I'll probably have to paint them up like Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Unfortunately none of them look cowardly enough for sir Robin. Great job mate 👍
How might you paint up Sir Not Appearing in This Film?
@@guilmon182 It'll be difficult for sure. Owing to the unfortunate dearth of source material. I did hear a rumour once that it was a mere babe in chainmail, but surely that's just a tall tale.
Would you recommend these to act as foot knights for Old World? How well do they scale against the classic Bretonian Knights of the Realm?
Think he’s got this covered in the description box: “Apologies for having forgotten the size comparison a few folks asked for. I'll grab some photos later, but for now it's worth knowing they're 'true' 28mm miniatures, so to put it bluntly they don't really scale in as replacements for Bretonnians if that's what you're thinking... or you could play another game with them?”
@@kendo5862 Thanks!
Yup! Beat me to it. In short, no, they're not going to be a replacement for Bretonnian knights unless you're planning to use others from the range as it releases.
@@kendo5862unless you don't mind the size differences that is.
that is awesome, could you do one based on the Classic Lego knights of the Bull? I loved the games they appeared in as a kid
The cloth covering worn over armour are called the fflippety-fflap-fflaps. It is Old French.
I knew someone would know! 😜
Footsore Miniatures has transfers for the Barons War Metal range so they could work for the plastic minis as well
Also worth having a look at the mighty brush they do a wonderful range of transfers, lots of heraldic images to choose from
This has come at a perfect time!
Working on the same kit,I've picked up some great tips, thank you
Would love these as a kit bash for Trench Cursade. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not hugely into the Trench Crusade look, I'm afraid. Not likely I'm going to do anything for that any time soon.
You read my freaking mind. Thinking about this kit along with their French WW1 infantry for my New Antioch force
